A Post For Men

This is a post for the men.

Not gonna debate abortion with you. Women should have bodily autonomy, full stop. I want to make a broader point:

We do not get to the Supreme Court overturning Roe without a lot of men hating women.

You probably didn’t know this, but the first step in radicalizing Taliban members is to make them hate women. That is also true of QAnon and white supremacy.

Hating women is the gateway drug to hating everyone else.

Think you haven’t been radicalized? How many times were you told that Rey in Star Wars was a “Mary Sue”? How often have you heard how OP Captain Marvel or the Scarlet Witch are? How many times have you heard the term SJW? Or had a friend complain that the new 007 was a woman, when good Bond Girls™ are sex objects? How often have you heard the President called “Biden” and the Vice-President called “Kamala,” thereby diminishing her to her first name?

You’ve probably heard all of this. I know I have. I know my teenage son has. He’s bombarded with it. The funnel technique used to drive sales is also used in toxic YouTube videos. They get you to click a fandom video, which seems harmless. But because you clicked that, you get progressively more toxic videos in your feed, slowly ramping up the misogyny. We’ve had to have long talks, he and I, about what he’s being sold. It’s not an ad for sneakers. It’s an ad for hating women.
